AI Impact: What does AI miss when it summarizes us?
Quote by Sandra Johnson, CDH-E, SVP of Client Services, shared with Newsweek, “We’ve known for years that AI’s impact in healthcare can’t come from standalone tools. Instead, it has to be woven directly into existing systems and workflows. More recently, we’re seeing more and more that the way AI is integrated matters just as much as the integration itself. We’ve found that when AI becomes a part of the operational fabric, is connected to both clinical and financial data, and provides meaningful support to frontline care teams, its value dramatically compounds. That’s because it’s about more than automation or documentation shortcuts. It’s really about integrating AI in a way that removes barriers to care, frees up clinicians’ to provide better care, and improves the healthcare experience for patients.
This insight has reinforced our approach to continuous innovation, building the infrastructure that allows AI to support clinicians at the point of care. Our goal is to align AI with real clinical and operational needs. Part of that means embedding it where it can directly support care teams and also remove or reduce administrative friction. We’re also putting an increased emphasis on responsible governance and clinician input so that we can develop AI solutions that act as a true partner in care. Ultimately, the final goals are to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, workforce satisfaction, and patient outcomes.”
